Committees and Boards
Office bearers and staff serve on numerous Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal committees and boards. Some of these include:

Guringai Festival Committee
Metro’s Northern Sydney Regional Representative is the Chairperson of the Guringai Festival Committee. The Guringai Festival coordinates a month long celebration of Aboriginal culture and heritage in the Northern Sydney region.

Reconciliation Committees
Metro works with a number of Reconciliation Committees to achieve common goals. The Reconciliation networks provide much needed support for Aboriginal people. Metro appreciates the time and dedication of all Reconciliation members. We have particularly close relationships with the Northern Sydney Reconciliation Committee, the Lane Cove Reconciliation Committee and the Manly Pittwater Aboriginal Support Group.

Redfern Aboriginal Authority
Metro was instrumental in establishing the Redfern Aboriginal Authority (previously called the Organization of Aboriginal Unity). Membership of the Authority consists of the leaders from every Aboriginal community controlled organization in the Redfern area. The Redfern Aboriginal Authority is a network of dedicated and passionate Aboriginal leaders who volunteer their time to ensuring the best possible outcomes are achieved for our local community. The Authority unites the Redfern Aboriginal community so that we speak with one voice in our dealings with government.

Roads & Traffic Authority, Sydney Water, Sydney Electricity
Metro provides advice to the RTA, Sydney Water and Sydney Electricity on the assessment and protection of Aboriginal cultural sites where development and maintenance works are being carried out.

SBS
Metro’s Cultural Education Officer is a member of the Cultural Advisory Committee for SBS Television and Radio. The role of Metro on this board is to provide advice on culturally appropriate content in programs aired by SBS.
